Cultivate your sensory skills with these illustrated cards

Cultivating skills in noticing requires paying attention. The "A Sensory Education" (ASE) cards are intended as a tool to prompt new ways of tuning your sensory skills, whether in medical school, hospitals, universities or everyday life. They are companion material to the book A SENSORY EDUCATION (Anna Harris, Routledge 2021) made in the context of a collaborative project about the sensory skills of doctors, called MAKING CLINICAL SENSE. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht University 2016-2022. It was funded by the EUROPEAN RESEARCH COUNCIL (under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program (grant agreement 678390)).

A collage of some ASE cards

This January, I endeavoured to fold boxes and sort each of the 50 cards into them. The result is over 70 completed boxes – ready for distribution – and this fun timelapse! In our Downloads, you can find a PDF file with all ASE cards.
